The Law Library BlackBoard site needs a new name. Can you help?

What is the Law Library Blackboard page?
The Law Library Blackboard page has been designed to help students studying law to improve their legal research skills. It includes 4 learning modules covering:
• Getting started in the law library
• Secondary sources of information
• Case law
• Legislation

There are podcasts that you can download and some practice quiz questions for you to try.

Where is it?
To view the site login to BlackBoard and click on Law Library Information Skills under Semester 2.

How do I enter?
Submit your completed entry form in the box in the Law Library foyer, or send an email with your proposed name for the Blackboard site and the reasons for your choice to law@library.uq.edu.au (remember to include “Blackboard Competition” in the subject line).

Who is eligible to enter?
Current students studying law at UQ and staff of the UQ Law School.

Our Outstanding Teacher: Mrs Margaret Stephenson

At the 9th UQ Excellence in Teaching & Learning Awards at Customs House last Monday, Mrs Margaret Stephenson, Senior Lecturer at T.C. Beirne School of Law, was recognised for her dedication to her students and her inspiring teaching. She was awarded a Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning. Congratulations Margaret!

Is Santa Innocent?

As it is getting closer to Christmas one question remains…. Is Santa really a Law Breaker? As citizens of a Law abiding society, one knows that everyone (including Santa) is innocent until proven guilty. How is Santa breaking the Law? Come into the Law Library and check out the display, “Santa: the law breaker?” and then decide if Santa has a case to answer.

Changes to the Library Opening Hours for this week:
Monday - Thursday: normal hours (8:00-9:00pm)
Friday 14th November: 8am-6:30pm
Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th November: CLOSED

Summer Semester Hours commence next week (Monday 17th November)
Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 8:30am-5pm
Tuesday & Thursday: 8:30am-8:00pm
Saturday & Sunday: CLOSED

End of Exams

The end of exams is nearly here. Then it is time for fun in the sun and relaxation.
As many of you will have or about to start your holidays. Now seems a good time for the staff at the Law Library to wish all students a happy and safe holiday.
For those who have completed their degrees and are about to Graduate. Congratulations and all the best in your future careers from all the Law Library Staff, past and present.

Good Luck for Exams

The Jacarandas are in bloom, November is a few days away. This could only mean one thing….it is exam time again.
Just a couple of points to help everyone out over this stressful time:
- the library will be open until 8pm on Friday 31st October and 7th November for that last minute cramming.
- bookings for rooms and desks are very busy so please be on time for your booking
And most important of all…
The Law Library staff would like to wish everyone good luck in the exams.

Come in and recharge it in one of the Law Library’s recharge lockers while you study or have lunch or go to a tutorial or throw a frisbee. The loan period for the locker is 3 hours and you can book online
