Disappearing Groups

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Now that the Groups feature has become so popular in EndNote, we are occasionally getting calls from users telling us that their groups have disappeared.

It is important to remember that the groups are not stored in the .enl file. They are stored in the DATA folder.

For more information, see this FAQ.

Identifying ungrouped references

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

The developers have produced a plugin for EndNote X2 which allows the user to locate references that have not been added to any of the Groups. Quite a lot of people have been asking how to do this, so it should be a useful feature.

See the installation instructions.

The plugin inserts an extra command “Unfiled References” on the Tools menu.

We do not plan to incorporate the plugin into the EndNote X2 software on public machines in the UQ Library, but EndNote users can download it to their own computers (Windows or Macintosh).

This feature will probably be incorporated into the next version of EndNote.
