The question of hiding (or suppressing) all or part of an EndNote citation in a Word document comes up fairly often. See our FAQ on this issue.
Some style manuals suggest that names of corporate authors should be abbreviated in citations in the text of a document, e.g. (NHMRC, 2003).
There is a workaround that allows you to do this in EndNote. See the relevant FAQ on our website.
Our medical journals term list, which converts full journal titles in your references to Pubmed abbreviations (and vice versa), has been updated to include 202 new journals which began publication in 2006 or 2007. See our journals term lists page.
We sometimes get asked about using EndNote with BibTeX, the referencing system widely used in the physical sciences. See our FAQ on BibTeX and EndNote.
EndNote users often report a problem where citations in their document have shifted up one position, to the location where the previous reference was cited.
See the FAQ on our website which deals with this problem.
We have produced a guide to using the Australian Guide to Legal Citation with EndNote X1:
http://www.library.uq.edu.au/endnote/aglc2/aglc2_ENX1.pdf
It updates the previous guide. These are the only significant changes:
* EndNote X1 offers a much simpler method for importing modified reference types. This will make it easier for users to install the RefType Table XML file which will set up the custom Legal reference type used by our AGLC2 EndNote style
* The guide is written for users of Word 2007, and shows how to use the EndNote and References tabs on the Word 2007 ribbon.
The EndNote Cite While You Write function (instant formatting) only works with Microsoft Word.
However EndNote can still be used with Open Office, Star Office and any other word processor that can save files in Rich Text Format (RTF).
In EndNote, click on Help on the menu bar to open the help screens. Find the section on Scanning and Formatting RTF Files.
Or go to the EndNote manual, which is installed on your computer along with your EndNote software, and read the chapter on Scanning and Formatting RTF Files.
