Downloading from PubMed and linking to full text articles

Monday, April 7th, 2008

If you use a filter to download records from PubMed, your EndNote references do not contain any links to take you to the full text of the articles. Our FAQ on PubMed and EndNote suggests a few ways of dealing with this problem.

APA style and electronic references

Monday, March 17th, 2008

In 2007, the American Psychological Association (APA) produced a new Style Guide to Electronic References. UQ staff and students can access the full text of that guide online.

The APA 5th style supplied with version X1 of EndNote was amended to reflect these new guidelines. However there were errors in that style, and we have produced an amended version which can be downloaded from our EndNote styles page.

We also have a FAQ which explains how to enter data for electronic references into your EndNote library, so that the amended output style will format the references correctly.

Digital Object Identifiers (DOI)

Monday, October 29th, 2007

Some journal editors are now requiring that authors include the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) in their references.

We have amended our Pubmed filter and connection file so that you can import the DOI into EndNote (version 8 and upwards).

Another use of the DOI is to create links to the full text of journal articles. But if you modify the DOI to create such a link, you no longer have the DOI in your EndNote library if you want to include it in your references.
