Hi Kate. Thanks for your comment. Here is a response from the manager of the biol sciences library:

I'm sorry that you are missing access to a microwave oven in the BSL. And thank you for bringing the issue to our attention.

You are correct that there is no access to a microwave oven in this corner of the St Lucia campus. An approach to the University of Queensland Union at uqunion@uq.edu.au may be a useful option, as they run the refectories, including Darwin's.

On a related issue, the Library is soon to review its guidelines on eating and drinking in all UQ libraries. I will provide an update via the blog when there is more to report.

I would be happy to take further comments on this issue.
Regards,
Lucy Cartmel, Manager, Biological Sciences Library

Is there anywhere in the BSL that is a "silent" study area? That is somewhere where one doesn't have to listen to others broadcasting to half the floor what they did on the weekend.

I know it's still a while till the end of semester exams, but could I suggest that the libraries open a bit longer on Saturday afternoons (possibly till 6:30?) during the exam weeks?

Thanks
