Blog it!

January 31st, 2007 by Kelly Whitehorne

Welcome to the Biological Sciences Library blog!

The aim of this blog is to keep everyone up to date with new developments at the library. We’ll also be adding posts about other general UQ happenings. But we don’t like to blog alone! So please feel free to comment on any of our posts. Just keep it clean ;)

This post will remain at the top of the blog so that you can provide us with general feedback about the library - what you like; what you don’t like; what confuses the heck out of you…! Entries on more specific topics can be found below (or under Recent Posts).

So, jump into the blog. The water’s fine and we hardly ever bite. Seriously.

*splash*

ETA: Due to a technical hitch, previous comments on this post went missing in the blogosphere. However, we have added previous suggestions (e.g. shade cover for the bike stand) to our modifications list.

Biol sciences library opens to midnight!

April 23rd, 2008 by Kelly Whitehorne

In response to requests from Library users, the Library will run a pilot of extended hours in one of its branches during 2008. The Biological Sciences Library will remain open until midnight Monday-Friday, as a pilot program during 2008, beginning on 3 March. The pilot will run during semesters 1 and 2 and will be evaluated at the end of the year to determine whether it is to continue. All Library users are welcome to take advantage of this new service.

The Library will operate as usual until 9pm Monday-Thursday and until 5pm on Friday, with Library staff available for assistance and advice. After these times, security will take over the building and remain on site until closing at midnight. Users will have access to all levels of the building and to computers, group rooms, printer/copiers and the autoloan machines to borrow from the BSL collection. There may be some restrictions on use of material from the High Use Collection and laptops will not be available for loan during the extended hours.

If you have any comments about our new opening hours we would love to hear from you!

Australian Veterinary Journal style now available for EndNote within library

January 18th, 2008 by Kelly Whitehorne

As you may know, there are additional output styles for EndNote available for download from the EndNote website:

The Australian Veterinary Journal style has been there for a while. However, to make this easier for you, we’ve downloaded the AVJ style so it will now be available from within EndNote when you are using library computers.

If you have any EndNote queries, please contact your liaison librarian

Happy New Year

January 3rd, 2008 by Jo Spicer

Welcome back! You can tell the holidays are over when library staff spend time trying to untangle metres of Christmas lights! It’s a hard job but thankfully I was only a spectator…..

For those of you who are keen to get back into the study groove, please refer to our latest opening hours. These hours are somewhat different to our normal semester opening hours. Happy studying everyone and best of luck for 2008!

If you hear some wailing in the library today………..

December 14th, 2007 by Jo Spicer

Don’t be alarmed! Any odd sounds will probably be the BSL staff enjoying a holiday sing-along. But don’t worry, while we’re out the back *quietly* feasting and singing up a storm, staff from PSE will be looking after the library.

Happy Holidays!

And just to disprove the old fashioned stereotype that library staff never have any fun, above are some photos from my recent trip to Japan.

The Karaoke photos and videos are under lock and key ;) (Seriously!)
